The 2026 Winter Olympics are in the books, following an eventful two weeks of competition. Norway finished the Milan Cortina Games atop the medal count standings, followed by the United States and host nation Italy.
Every time the Olympics roll around, we witness some breakout star performances, and this year was no different.
From American speed skater Jordan Stolz to figure skating gold medalist Alysa Liu and Team USA hockey heroes Jack Hughes and Connor Hellebuyck, there are several new worldwide stars.

Forbes compiled a list of the five highest-paid athletes at the Winter Olympics, with San Francisco-born freestyle skiing star Eileen Gu, who represents China, topping the list at a whopping $23 million. Gu took home three medals at the Milan Cortina Games: one gold and two silvers.
Following Gu on the list is Team USA hockey captain Auston Matthews ($20 million) and American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn ($8 million) to round out the top three.

The next Olympic spot will take place with the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, California, from July 15 to July 30. It marks the third time that Los Angeles will be hosting the Summer Olympics.
The 2028 Games will feature more than 351 events, including new events with cricket, flag football, lacrosse, and squash.
