We were all told growing up not to believe everything we hear. That advice applies here, but there's still something worth monitoring. There’s a growing belief that Rueben Bain Jr. and David Bailey, the edge-rushing crown jewels of this draft class, won’t be available when the Baltimore Ravens are on the clock at No. 14. If that proves true, it changes the conversation, but it doesn’t weaken the opportunity.

The need remains regardless of what happens early. Trey Hendrickson adds proven production, but he isn’t getting younger. The development behind him, Mike Green in particular, hasn’t progressed quickly enough.

Baltimore still needs another consistent presence off the edge. Fortunately, this class offers depth, but the Ravens may want to add at least one player to the position early. Here are the best remaining fits.

1. Akheem Mesidor, Miami Hurricanes

Akheem Mesidor feels like the most complete option of this group. He brings production, experience, and a refined pass-rush plan. His ability to set the edge and consistently affect the quarterback makes him a natural fit in Baltimore’s system.

He may not have elite traits, but he offers something just as valuable. He provides undeniable reliability.

2. Cashius Howell, Texas A&M Aggies

Cashius Howell wins with burst and technique. His hand usage and pass-rush arsenal allow him to beat blockers quickly, even if his frame doesn’t scream prototypical NFL edge. He’s disruptive, productive, and exactly the type of player who can carve out a role early.

3. Keldric Faulk, Auburn Tigers

Keldric Faulk is built differently, literally. His size and versatility allow him to line up across the front, making him an ideal piece for a multiple-front defense. He’s more powerful than a finesse guy, but that power translates. For a Ravens defense that values flexibility, Faulk checks a lot of boxes.

4. Gabe Jacas, Illinois Fighting Illini

Gabe Jacas is one of the more intriguing risers. He brings strength against the run and enough quickness to generate pressure. His production speaks for itself, and his versatility adds to the appeal. He feels like a player who could outperform where he’s selected.

5. Zion Young, Missouri Tigers

Zion Young offers upside. His length, quickness, and ability to close give him tools worth developing. He’s not a finished product, but the flashes are enough to justify the investment. In the right system, he could grow into something more.

Honorable mentions: T.J. Parker (Clemson Tigers) and R. Mason Thomas (Oklahoma Sooners)

If your ranking features one or both of these guys, no one would criticize you. As is the case with everyone previously mentioned, these guys have both upside and concerns. Parker does everything very well, but he doesn't have many traits that separate him. Thomas is more explosive, but small by NFL standards.

Baltimore doesn’t need the top name to solve this issue. They just need to find their best fit, and history says they’re more than capable than most of finding him.
