It would've been difficult for any NFL team other than the Washington Commanders to justify signing Brandon Aiyuk should the San Francisco 49ers release him.

Aiyuk has attempted to force his way to Washington in every way possible to reunite with his close friend ... Jayden Daniels ... whom the disgruntled wide receiver caught passes from at Arizona State in 2019.

But now, in a strange turn of events, Aiyuk is back blabbering on social media — this time targeting Daniels with verbal attacks.

First, Aiyuk unfollowed the star quarterback. Then, he issued the following message to his former teammate:

“You on my team now. You follow my rules. Boy, I’m a grown ass man, boy," Aiyuk said. "You gonna have to stop running your mama and I might believe what you’re talking about. But until then, [no].”

Aiyuk followed up with another Instagram story, this time silently holding up a pair of cleats alongside a graphic challenging Daniels to "run it" and stay healthy for the entire season.

Following one of the greatest individual rookie seasons in NFL history, Daniels' second year as a pro was full of injuries, including a sprained knee in Week 2, a hamstring strain in Week 7 and a dislocated left elbow in Week 9.

We've come a long way in the Aiyuk saga since the social media antics began. From accusing the Niners organization of being "scared" to flinging insults at GM John Lynch, there had been only one topic the 28-year-old had yet to take aim at.

And it was Daniels.

Unfortunately for Aiyuk, this decision could be what ultimately costs him his NFL career.

His chances of actually landing with the Commanders appeared to be shrinking as is, especially following his comments directed at Lynch — who is a close friend of Washington's GM and Lynch's former assistant, Adam Peters.

Now, there's a possibility that Aiyuk has burnt bridges with both Daniels and Peters, who may be the two figures most responsible for transforming Washington from a joke of a franchise into a potential perennial contender.

He seemed to be fairly genuine when going after those involved in the Niners organization, but regardless of whether Aiyuk intended the Daniels posts as playful trash talk or something more serious, perception matters.

Publicly calling out a franchise's cornerstone player is obviously unlikely to strengthen his case with an organization that appears committed to building around Daniels for years to come.

And if the Commanders pass on Aiyuk, there's no guarantee anyone would take a flier on him, which is something he should keep in mind if he continues this tirade.
