The San Francisco 49ers will go into their biggest game of the year without one of their top offensive weapons.
Tight end George Kittle has been officially ruled out for the 49ers' Sunday night showdown with the Chicago Bears. The club listed him as questionable because of an ankle injury he suffered in the team's Week 16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He didn't practice throughout the week, and his ankle issue didn't improve enough between Friday and Sunday night to get him on the field for a game the 49ers need to win to stay in the mix for the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.
Backup TEs Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges will carry some extra workload to make up for the superstar's absence.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was also questionable after being limited in practice throughout the week by a knee issue. He is not among the team's inactives meaning he will play against Chicago. The 49ers will need Pearsall to be active in the passing game with Kittle on the sidelines.
Here's who won't suit up for San Francisco:
Robinson is once again a healthy scratch with Tatum Bethune healthy and Eric Kendricks getting his second week of game action as a practice squad elevation. Guerendo is also a healthy scratch for the second consecutive week as rookie running back Jordan James continues carving out a role in his first NFL season.
