The San Francisco 49ers were eliminated from the postseason last weekend, as they fell to the Seattle Seahawks 41-6 in the divisional-round battle at Lumen Field.

After the loss, the 49ers lost defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, as he agreed to become head coach of the Tennessee Titans. They also were in danger of losing offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak, as he was requested to interview for head coach openings with the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, on Saturday, The Athletic's Diana Russini reported that Kubiak has withdrawn his name from consideration for head coach jobs this offseason and will return to the 49ers in 2026.

Kubiak, 37, joined the 49ers staff in 2021 as defensive quality control coach and took over as offensive coordinator in 2025. He received a ton of praise from head coach Kyle Shanahan throughout the year, so it's clear he's held in high regard in San Francisco.

Minutes after Russini's report, the Steelers hired former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy to lead their team, so Kubiak's only option left would've been the Raiders.
