The Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive end Travon Walker have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team for the foreseeable future.
After sharing our initial analysis of the move, here are four takeaways from the contract extension news.
The extension is for four seasons, which will keep Walker in Jacksonville through the 2030 season. The deal is worth $110 million total and includes $77 million in guarantees, $50 million of which is fully guaranteed at signing.
This averages out to $27.5 million per year for Walker in new money. Compared to his position group league-wide, he now ranks 12th in average annual value, 10th in total contract value, and 10th in guaranteed money, according to Over the Cap.
After totaling 43 pressures and five sacks as a rookie in 2022, Walker's production took a big jump forward during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. During both of those seasons, he reached double-digit sacks and ranked in the top 25 among all edge defenders in quarterback pressures each year.
Due to injuries and missed time this past year, Walker's raw production numbers won't match his previous two seasons, but he ranked 35th in PFF's true pass rush win rate metric, highlighting his ability to win his one-on-one matchups.
Defensive ends get paid to rush the quarterback and generate sacks. But not to be overlooked either are Walker's contributions in the run game. During the 2025 season, he ranked tied for ninth in run-stop rate among his position group. Those plays won't garner much attention, but in order for a defense to have the opportunity to rush the passer, they must stop the run first, and Walker has played a key role in accomplishing that.
The defensive end position for the Jaguars is fortified for the next several seasons. Hines-Allen is currently under contract through the 2028 season. Of the 371 quarterback pressures generated by the Jacksonville defense in 2025, Hines-Allen and Walker accounted for 144 of them, and that was with Walker missing time. In 2024, the duo recorded 119 of the Jaguars' 262 total pressures.
