The New England Patriots will be under a great amount of pressure in 2026 following their trip to the Super Bowl last season.
The Patriots have several stars that will be tasked with leading the team to victories next season. Leaders on offense and defense will be under a microscope to deliver for New England in a variety of ways and keep their winning ways going.
Let’s take a look at the Patriots players who will be under the most pressure in 2026.
Maye was the catalyst of the Patriots’ offense last season. The UNC product threw for 4,394 passing yards, was effective when scrambling out of the pocket, and finished as the AP MVP runner-up in 2026.
Next season, Maye will be tasked with leading New England to a Super Bowl win. He has the same ground game in place, with an improved offensive line and a much-improved receiving corps in New England. With all that he accomplished last season, Maye will be under pressure to rise to the occasion in 2026.
Wilson ended his rookie season on a poor note in the Super Bowl, where he let the Seahawks’ edge rushers get to Maye far too often out of the left guard slot.
Next season, Wilson will return to the position that he played in college at the center slot. His pass protection will be needed for Maye to get the ball downfield, and the same will be true for his run blocking, which will allow Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson to exploit holes up the middle.
Campbell was tasked with keeping Maye safe in the pocket last season. He had a good rookie year, but it was not without its share of blemishes.
The LSU product has the talent to clean up the rookie mistakes that he made last season and help give Maye more time to throw in the pocket. Save Kayshon Boutte, Campbell may be the one Patriots player that will have the most eyes on him to produce next season with high stakes attached to that level of attention, making him a key player for New England that will need to deliver.
Davis has the power to help the Patriots’ secondary play at an elite level next season. Opposite the former second-team All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez, Davis will be given the opportunity to take his game to the next level in 2026.
Having one accomplished cover corner on one side of the field goes a long way. If Davis plays at a level that invokes fear in opposing receivers next season, the Patriots may be able to put forth one of the most imposing one-two punches at corner, which will help them in a slew of tough matchups against elite receiving units.
