If you're looking for a 2026 NFL redemption story, look no further than New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell.
Everybody saw Campbell's lackluster performance in the Super Bowl back in February and shared their harsh criticisms. Campbell returned from IR in the postseason after an MCL sprain on his right knee and a torn ligament.
Campbell's injuries and overall rookie status in the NFL may have contributed to his lackluster performance in the Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He allowed 14 pressures, the most allowed by any player in a single game during the 2025 NFL season.
The now second-year left tackle is well aware of the criticism around him this offseason, so he decided to put that energy into getting better and being ready to protect Drake Maye in 2026.
Campbell has enlisted help from some training partners ahead of training camp. A video surfaced online of the Patriots tackle working out with a few former Pro Bowlers. Lane Johnson, Dion Dawkins, and Tyler Guyton all seem to be offering the young player some advice on technique and skill ahead of his sophomore season in the NFL.
Judging from the footage above, Campbell seems to be part of a high-level training environment to prepare him for high-pressure situations when protecting his quarterback, and it helps that he's getting that advice and training from some of the most accomplished offensive linemen in the NFL.
Campbell's pass protection against the rush that the Seahawks defense implemented in the Super Bowl fractured what was a nearly solid rookie season by the LSU graduate.
The Patriots' offense is also set to be operating at a higher level than last season. With the addition of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, Drake Maye will need some more time in the pocket to find his newest weapons. Campbell will need to be ready.
As fate would have it, Campbell gets a chance at redemption right out of the gate. The Patriots will begin their 2026 campaign against the Seattle Seahawks in the regular-season opener on September 9th.
