The 2026 FIFA World Cup ball is always a topic of discussion, but a giant version? The stakes get even higher. That was the case for one soccer superfan, who went on a relentless months-long mission to secure a piece of sports memorabilia to add to his collection, and his pursuit of one giant World Cup ball took the internet by storm.

For months, the collector repeatedly visited a store, attempting to convince management to let him buy the ultra-rare 31-inch Adidas Trionda Jumbo soccer ball on display. After being turned down several times for the ball that comes with a price tag of $349.99, he finally broke through and picked up a (literal) huge victory.

Sometimes, true sports passion can lead a fan to endure rejection over and over again, but it was great to see this fan finally emerge with the one item he so desperately coveted.

The giant World Cup ball was nearly a daunting task for fan to bring home

However, as seen above, getting the ball removed from the store's display and actually fitting it into his car was another battle in itself.

Thankfully, all's well that ends well, and while it was a tight squeeze to get in the car (and his house, it seems), this fan's wish came true just ahead of the 2026 World Cup getting underway.

The action kicks off with Mexico taking on South Africa in a Group A battle on Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. ET, while the United States begins its World Cup run one day later, facing. Paraguay on Friday, June 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
