A brutal collision between the Dodgers’ Max Muncy and Diamondbacks’ Ildemaro Vargas went viral Thursday.
Muncy hit a deep ground ball at the first baseman Vargas, and the two sprinted to get to the base first. Muncy won that battle but then ran into Vargas at full speed.

Both players sprawled out on the infield, and it looked bad.
“In my 10 years, I’ve never seen a collision like that,” D-backs second baseman Ketel Marte said through an interpreter, per a report at ESPN.com.

MLB.com reported after Arizona’s 3-2 victory in Phoenix that neither player ― both left the game ― was seriously hurt.
Vargas suffered bruises to his thigh, ribs and neck, but X-rays showed no breaks. He said he could play Friday if required.
“My whole body feels like I ran into a truck, but thankfully all the exams and tests were negative,” Vargas said through an interpreter, per The Associated Press.
Muncy told reporters he was fine, too. He will, however, take an already scheduled day off Friday.
“I really hope Vargas is OK ― I sent something over to him,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “I’m hoping he’s doing all right and he’s not too bad. But just bad situation that looks like neither of us knew which direction to go.”
Diamondbacks pitcher Ryne Nelson, who was supposed to cover first on the play, said he felt guilty for causing the collision.
“I failed to do my job in a big spot,” Nelson said in a clip of his postgame interview. ”... It was very disappointing knowing that I could have done something to make that not happen.”
