Jake Bennett is dealing.
In fact, the Boston Red Sox rookie left-handed pitcher is throwing so well that noted Red Sox fan Jared Carrabis asked on X: "Is Jake Bennett the best pitcher in baseball?"
Spoiler alert: The answer is probably no.
But that's not because Bennett hasn't been good. He's off to a fantastic start to his MLB career.
Bennett went 7.0 scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four.

The 25-year old now has a 2.64 ERA through eight starts at the big league level.
Bennett has 35 strikeouts in 47.2 innings pitched, which is not an amazing ratio in the modern game, but he's getting guys out. And really, that's all that matters.
The Red Sox actually didn't even have Bennett in their organization until this year. In the offseason, they traded talented but oft-injured right-hander Luis Perales to the Washington Nationals to acquire Bennett.
It was a bet on Bennett being ready to contribute soon, and Bennett has proven capable.
The Red Sox have had a lot go wrong this season, but Bennett is something that has gone very, very right.
He may not be the best pitcher in baseball, but he's pitching to the best of his ability, and right now, that's a very high level of performance.
