2 Contusions Raise Injury Worry For Red Sox originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox had two members of their starting batting lineup leave Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox.
Early exits due to injury certainly aren't a great strategy going forward.
But on this night, both Willson Contreras and Anthony Seigler departed before the game could finish.

What happened to Willson Contreras?
Contreras was diagnosed with a left foot contusion.
He fouled a ball off the top of that foot, hard, and went down.

Romy Gonzalez replaced him in the game.
Contreras actually came out to first base the next inning, seemingly intending to continue, but then had to come out due to the pain.

What happened to Anthony Seigler?
Seigler exited due to right trap contusion.
He had been involved in a home-plate collision with White Sox catcher (and former Red Sox farmhand) Kyle Teel.
Andruw Monasterio took over at second base for Seigler.
Neither injury was ideal, but both could've been worse, and so the Red Sox will just try to manage in the meantime.
