Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has denied that he could be looking for an escape from Saudi Arabia, just days after ending a strike against his club's owners.
Ronaldo sat out consecutive league matches as a protest against Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which owns Al Nassr as well as Al Hilal, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad.
The Portuguese legend reportedly felt that the PIF was prioritizing its other clubs in the transfer market, particularly Al Hilal, which recently signed Ronaldo's former Real Madrid attacking partner Karim Benzema.
Ronaldo's discontent led to reports that he could be seeking an exit from Al Nassr, where he has a contract through June 2027.
But speaking after a 4-0 win over Al Hazem on Saturday, Feb. 21, Ronaldo insisted that he had no intention of leaving his current side.
“I’m very happy,” the 41-year-old told Saudi broadcaster Thmanyah. “As I say so many times, I belong to Saudi Arabia.
“It’s a country that has welcomed me very well, and my family and my friends. I’m happy here, I want to continue here.
“The most important thing is we keep pushing (for the league title), we are there at the top. We do our job, we win, make pressure, let’s see at the end of the season.”
Al Nassr currently sits in first place, one point above Al Hilal, as it attempts to win Ronaldo's first Saudi Pro League title since he arrived in 2023.
Ronaldo is currently third in the league's Golden Boot race with 20 goals from 20 games.
