'Feel the winning culture,' UCLA QB Iamaleava confident in HC Chesney

The UCLA football team participated in media day on Wednesday and three of the Bruins' best players were interviewed by Mike Hall on the Big Ten Network.

Among those players was starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the junior who transferred to Westwood from Tennessee last summer.

Hall started the interview by asking each player about what feels different at UCLA this season under new head coach Bob Chesney opposed to a year ago under DeShaun Foster.

"When coach Ches first stepped in the building, I think you can already feel the winning culture he brought behind him," Iamaleava said. "He's been a winner at all the other places that he's been at before. I think us continuing to buy into his process, what he has for us and trusting in him, I think we'll be just fine."

It's clear that the Bruins' second-year signal-caller and its new leader are quickly building chemistry ahead of the 2026 campaign that starts next month in Berkley.
