OTAs for the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to begin on May 26. So after taking a look at what to watch for on offense, now let's jump to the defensive side of the ball.

In this third phase of offseason programs, no contact can take place, but teams can do competitive team periods. OTAs are also voluntary for the players.

As these practices unfold, here are three things I'll be watching for.

Who's getting early rotational snaps at defensive end?

We know that Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker will lead the way at defensive end, but how the rotational snaps shake out behind them remains to be seen. Competing for that playing time will be Wesley Williams, Danny Striggow, BJ Green, and Zach Durfee. While Williams and Durfee are the recent draft picks, Striggow and Green have a year of experience in Anthony Campanile's system under their belts.

I imagine that the Jaguars will remain fluid with what playing time looks like between these four and make changes as needed throughout the summer and into the season.

Playing time at the linebacker position

There are a few things to watch here -- for starters, presumably Ventrell Miller will be taking the starting snaps alongside Foye Oluokun, but is there anyone on the roster that will emerge and push him for playing time?

In addition to that, this is a crowded room overall. Miller, Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck, Yasir Abdullah, Branson Combs, Jalen McLeod, Jack Kiser, and Parker Hughes make up the linebacker room, but realistically, only five, or perhaps six of these players, will make the 53-man roster. Special teams play will be a critical factor in making the team for Abdullah, Hughes, and Combs.

S Caleb Ransaw

One of the Jaguars' third-round picks from a year ago, Ransaw suffered a season-ending injury during last year's training camp. Ransaw is a speedy and versatile defender, running a 4.33-second 40 during the pre-draft process. With the Jaguars, Ransaw was making the transition to the traditional deep safety role.

He will have the opportunity to earn snaps as the third safety in Jacksonville's defense, a role that sees steady playing time under Campanile.
