Thanks to a recent story by ESPN's Brady Henderson, there are emerging rumors that the Seattle Seahawks could consider trading center Olu Oluwatimi this offseason. It makes sense. Oluwatimi is entering the final year of his contract and lost a position battle to starter Jalen Sundell last summer.
We've identified three teams the Seahawks could consider trading Oluwatimi to at training camp this offseason.
The Las Vegas Raiders paid Tyler Linderbaum handsomely to be their starting center. Trading for Oluwatimi would reunite him with former Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Oluwatimi would arguably offer the Raiders some guard-center flexibility while helping the offensive line room acclimate to Kubiak's playbook and system.
The Tennessee Titans released starting center Lloyd Cushenberry and pivoted to veteran journeyman Austin Schlottmann. Their starter has started 18 career games in seven seasons. Trading for Oluwatimi would provide the Titans with a younger option who has already made 13 starts.
Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales runs a similar zone-based system. They made an offseason change at center, signing veteran blocker Luke Fortner to a short-term contract as a temporary solution. If the Panthers are looking for competition at center, Oluwatimi would be a good choice in Carolina.
