The Vanderbilt Commodores defeated Alabama by a final score of 85-60 on Thursday evening.

The Tide had one of their worst shooting performances of the season against the Commodores, as Alabama shot just 33% from the field. The team as a whole shot 23% from behind the arc as well, as Alabama will now turn their attention towards yet another top 25 matchup against Texas on Sunday to conclude the regular season.

Here are three takeaways from Alabama’s loss against Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Jessica Timmons struggled from behind the arc

Timmons has been widely regarded as a top guard in all of women’s college basketball this season. The talented playmaker struggled from three point range during Thursday night’s loss, as Timmons shot just 22% from behind the arc. The star guard will have an excellent opportunity to bounce back against Texas on Sunday, as Timmons’ struggles from deep played a key role in the Tide’s road loss.

Ta’Mia Scott continues to shine, records 15 points

Scott has been red hot on the offensive end of the floor throughout the month of February. The star guard recorded 15 points in the Tide’s loss to Vanderbilt, as Scott has continued to play a massive role in the Alabama backcourt throughout her entire senior campaign. Scott currently averages 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, as the talented sharpshooter was elite on Thursday evening.

Karly Weathers stays hot from three point range

Weathers had yet another elite shooting performance, despite the Tide struggling on the offensive end of the floor. The senior shot an impressive 50% from behind the arc on the road in Nashville, as Weathers continues to establish herself as a key playmaker on both ends of the floor this season. The star guard currently averages 9.7 points and a team-high six rebounds per game, as Weathers continues to step up in multiple ways for the Tide in 2025-26.

Alabama will face the Texas Longhorns at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday morning, as the Tide will look to improve to 8-8 in SEC play to end the 2025-26 campaign.
