The Buffalo Bills will kickoff their 2026 NFL preseason schedule on Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Carolina Panthers at Highmark Stadium.
It will be the first time new head coach Joe Brady is the man in charge during any game and it will be his first chance to lead the way cutting down a roster to 53 players at the end of the exhibition season. However, even players that are likely to make the roster still have their roster status up in the air during the preseason.
With that, here are Bills Wire's three position battles to watch for against the Panthers:
It is a "make-or-break" season for Coleman, in his own words. The same could be said for Palmer. Both had disappointing years in 2025 and while DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir are nailed-on starters, there is still the position out wide opposite of Moore that is still up for grabs between these two.
Elarms-Orr went from unknown fourth-round rookie to training camp darling with his performances. He is the type of hard-nosed defender that defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard covets. However, Williams is a seasoned pro and former third-round pick in 2023 himself.
Whoever wins this position will takeover a starting spot next to Terrel Bernard at linebacker. It feels unlikely that current free agent Matt Milano returns to the Bills at this point.
Corbett signed in Buffalo as a free agent earlier this offseason. Corbett and Anderson are battling to see who will replace David Edwards at guard on Buffalo's offensive line. Edwards departed the Bills as a free agent himself this offseason.
