Summer is here, sort of, and it is everyone’s favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans and give them names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay.
Are we going to write about quarterbacks? Offensive tackles? Edge rushers? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so that Bucs fans can be the most informed.
So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall.
Teitum Tuioti may be one of the smartest edge defenders in the 2027 NFL Draft class. The Oregon defender consistently showcased advanced processing skills throughout his film evaluation. Whether defending the run or rushing the passer, Tuioti routinely placed himself in the correct position to impact the play. His understanding of leverage, pursuit angles, run fits, and blocking schemes allowed him to play faster than many of the offensive linemen tasked with blocking him.
Against the run, Tuioti was outstanding. He consistently used extension to keep blockers off his frame while maintaining vision into the backfield. His ability to set the edge, anchor against double teams, and funnel ball carriers back inside made him one of the most dependable run defenders evaluated during the summer scouting process. He rarely abandoned his assignment and repeatedly demonstrated the discipline necessary to remain effective on all three downs.
As a pass rusher, Tuioti wins with a combination of technique, power, and effort. He possesses a well-developed toolbox that includes a long-arm move, a bull rush, a rip move, a spin counter, and active hand use. While he may not possess elite bend or rare explosiveness, he consistently generated pressure by attacking leverage points and understanding how offensive tackles were attempting to block him.
One of the most impressive aspects of his game is how he pursues the football. Rather than simply chasing the ball carrier, Tuioti routinely takes intelligent angles and works toward where the play is developing. That trait repeatedly showed up on film and helps explain his consistent tackle production throughout his career.
Tuioti enters the 2026 season as one of the safest edge prospects in college football. His combination of intelligence, effort, leverage, and production provides a high floor, while continued growth as a pass rusher could push him firmly into Day 2 consideration.
