Rutgers football has added another piece to its offensive line this recruitment cycle, as Pennsylvania offensive tackle Charles Butler has committed to the Scarlet Knights, according to a post he made on his social media.

Butler brings some impressive size to the Knights’ recruiting class. The Bishop Canevin product stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 330 pounds, and was a multi-sport athlete in high school, playing basketball in addition to football.

Butler anchored the left side of the offensive line from his tackle spot for his first three years of high school, earning three straight all-conference selections and being named the Black Hills Conference lineman of the year.

Butler held offers from teams like James Madison, Kent State, Temple, and Akron. He was slated to take an official visit to JMU next weekend, but with his commitment, that will no longer take place.

Butler becomes the eighth member of the 2027 recruiting class for Rutgers Football and the second offensive lineman in the class as well.

He is currently unranked by all three rating services.
