One of Iowa basketball's targets in the 2027 class is headed elsewhere.
TJ Jamison, a 6-foot-2 point guard out of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, La., announced his commitment to the Baylor Bears. Alongside Baylor, Iowa was one of Jamison's finalists with USC, Oklahoma, LSU and Miami.
The Hawkeyes had hosted Jamison on an official visit on June 14-15. Per Rivals, Jamison is the nation's No. 34 player, the No. 11 point guard and the top player in the state of Louisiana.
Playing on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Jamison averaged 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 36.4% from the field for JL3.
It's a big get for Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears, but it also isn't the end of the world for Iowa. The Hawkeyes and Ben McCollum are still heavily involved with two of the nation's other top point guards in Cayden Daughtry and Jaxson Davis.
Cayden Daughtry has been one of the country's biggest risers this summer, climbing to No. 3 nationally in the 247Sports recruiting rankings after his historic Peach Jam performance. In eight Peach Jam games, Daughtry averaged 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game while shooting 58.6% from the field and 48.8% from 3-point range.
Daughtry is set for an official visit to Iowa on Sept. 12, which is the weekend of the Iowa-Iowa State football game.
Meanwhile, Davis is rated as the nation's No. 35 player, as the No. 10 point guard and as the top player in Kansas, per 247Sports. Davis just listed Iowa among his final six schools and is set to officially visit the Hawkeyes on Sept. 19.
