As Iowa basketball continues to scout the recruiting trail during the summer months, Hawkeyes head coach Ben McCollum and other assistant coaches were among a cluster of coaches in attendance at a Nike EYBL event in Memphis, Tenn., involving 2027 top-25 prospect Cayden Daughtry.

Daughtry, a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is a four-star and the No. 17 overall prospect, the No. 4 point guard and the No. 5 player in Florida, according to 247Sports. The Hawkeyes offered Daughtry on July 12, 2025, and are viewed as one of the top contenders for his commitment.

Along with Iowa, representatives from Louisville, Duke, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, and defending national champion Michigan were all in attendance.

This past season, Daughtry powered Calvary Christian to its second consecutive state championship. Daughtry averaged 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 54.5% from the field, 36.8% from 3-point range, and 86% at the free-throw line, according to MaxPreps.

While the Hawkeyes certainly have competition for the highly-skilled guard, securing his commitment would continue Iowa's rapid rise to the top of the national recruiting landscape.
