The Oregon Ducks had the opportunity to further bolster their impressive 2027 class on Saturday, but it wasn't meant to be. Long having been a factor in offensive lineman Ismael Camara's recruitment, the consensus five-star opted to commit to the Texas Longhorns. The SMU Mustangs and LSU Tigers were also considered along with Oregon.
The writing was on the wall in June, as Camara cancelled his official visit to Eugene and a crystal ball prediction was logged for Camara to land with the Longhorns. Now, on the morning of the 4th of July, that prediction became a reality.
The addition of the 6-foot-6, 340-pound Texas native would've boosted the Ducks' No. 2 recruiting ranking, as they've reeled in two other five-stars in wide receiver Dakota Guerrant and edge rusher Rashad Streets. The only other program ahead of the Ducks in the recruiting rankings are the Texas A&M Aggies, who also have a pair of five-star commits.
But in the end, Texas emerged as the favorite and secured the commitment of the in-state product Camara, who is the No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 20 player overall in the 2027 class, per 247Sports Composite.
Despite missing out on Camara, the Ducks are still in a solid spot along on the offensive line in the 2027 class with four-star Cameron Wagner, four-star Gus Corsair, three-star Avery Michael and three-star Lex Mailangi all having committed to Oregon.
