Texas A&M's success on the recruiting trail will more than likely lead to finishing the 2027 cycle ranked No. 1 by the end of the year, and after the Maroon & White Game last Saturday, which also served as another hosting opportunity for third-year head coach Mike Elko and his revamped staff.
Over the last four months, Elko and new cornerbacks coach Bryant Gross-Armiento have had their sights set on five-star cornerbacks John Meredith and Joshua Dobson, who are both taking official visits to College Station over the next two months. Two blue-blood programs will serve as the Aggies' primary competition for both blue-chip recruits, while Dobson has now placed Texas A&M in his final five program list.
Officially competing with LSU, South Carolina, Michigan, and Auburn, Texas A&M has received nothing but praise from the five-star corner during his last unofficial visit, noting Elko's background as a defensive backs coach, while current freshman and former five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington has already looked like a first-year contributor after an impressive spring performance.
Joshua Dobson transferred to Cornelius (N.C.) Hough, before his 2026 senior season this fall, recorded a tackle and an interception during the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this year. According to 247Sports, Dobson is the 43rd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 6th-ranked cornerback, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in North Carolina.
