South Africa are still dreaming of direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup as they host Rwanda this Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 16:00 GMT, at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Hugo Broos' men sit second in Group C (15 points), trailing Benin (17 points) by two, while Benin will also face Nigeria (14 points). Rwanda are fifth with 11 points and have already been eliminated from the race for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
South Africa will qualify if…
- They defeat Rwanda and Benin lose to Nigeria
- They beat Rwanda by a two-goal margin and Benin are held to a draw by the Super Eagles.

Bafana Bafana can no longer hope for a play-off spot, as they cannot reach the points tally of Niger, who are currently the fourth-best runners-up.
