South Africa is gearing up for its first FIFA World Cup run since hosting the tournament in 2010, when they step onto the pitch as part of Group A for this year’s event in North America.
Bafana Bafana, as the team is affectionately known, participates in a group with host nation Mexico, Czechia, and South Korea.
The team will face its toughest challenge of the group stage in the tournament opener on Thursday, June 11, against Mexico at Mexico City Stadium (Estadio Azteca).

South Africa is captained by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who has captained the team since 2021, including an incredible run at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
