Wisconsin racing fans get their first real taste of the 2026 season with a pair of significant super late model events in April before the dam breaks in May.
Below is a list of major auto racing events around Wisconsin in this stretch, weighted toward the Milwaukee area. (The farther away an event is, the bigger it has to be to crack the list.) Factors considered include history, prestige, scope and purse.
In addition to the asphalt openers at Dells Raceway Park, Slinger Speedway and Madison International Speedway – and by extension the ASA Midwest Tour – the schedule is highlighted by one of the most lucrative races of the season.
Granted, Mississippi Thunder Speedway is a lot closer to the Twin Cities than to Wisconsin’s population center, but the facility is a gem, and the $40,000 winner’s share ensures the World of Outlaws Late Model Series competitors will be at the top of their game May 2.
Sprint cars also take the green flag at premier tracks in southeast and south central Wisconsin. And Road America hosts vintage cars and motorcycles.
You can find a similar list for the entire season, plus winners of completed events, here.
