Figured it’d be nice to have a dedicated QB watch thread for day 2 and beyond in the draft. I’ll be honest, I’m shocked the rams selected Ty Simpson so early @13 and believe they totally pulled the rug on the cardinals plans to draft him late in the first round.

We currently have 2 back up QBs on 1 year contracts and reading between the lines cards have all but said we are drafting a QB.

Is it beck? Is it Allar? Is it Nussmeier? Can’t say I’m truly ecstatic about any QB in this class, but I’m hoping we take a shot on one of these guys

I'm not sure which of the three mentioned (Beck, Nussmeier, Allar) is best but all three were considered first round picks prior to last season. All 3 have had much more experience than Simpson. It makes sense IMO to take one to develop.

I’d take Nussmeier if he lasts until round 3. I think his ceiling is as a backup. Maybe with maturity, he gets better. QBs are not my specialty. I’d take Beck over Allar, but I don’t think either ever is a regular starter. I’m skeptical of either even being a solid backup. In a weak draft it’s hard to label a pick wasted, but I’d still try to build the roster.

Interesting Harry, I think Allar is the only one of the group with potential to be a starter, and that is negligible anyway. This is just such a bad draft class overall. The run on OT was because there really isn't anything solid to be had, and OT can be IOL if they don't pan out usually so you get two bites of the apple.

Allar has the physical tools but is he strong enough mentally. Didn’t look like it, but he had good players around him.

Yup, the mental pressure/ability to rise up will be the knock on him if he doesn't pan out (and his timing throws). I'd swing on him in the 4th but doesn't look like he will last that long. I don't know about the third, but if the Cards like him they probably take him there, especially if beck and Nuss go in the second. There was another kid they were rumored to like but I forgot and didn't look into him.
