After standout regular seasons and phenomenal playoff runs, dozens of the Wichita Falls area’s top high school basketball players have been selected to compete in the 2026 Oil Bowl.
The Oil Bowl – which began in 1938 as an East Texas versus West Texas high school football all-star game – has since transformed into a series of regional, postseason high school all-star games in football, volleyball and boys and girls basketball.
The Oil Bowl has also raised thousands of dollars to support charities throughout the Lone Star State.
From 1945 through 2011 – when the format of the Oil Bowl was Oklahoma vs. Texas postseason high school all-star games – the net proceeds were divided between both states, with Texas’ share donated to the North Texas Rehabilitation Center in Wichita Falls.
Oil Bowl proceeds from 2012 to 2019 then went to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Proceeds from Oil Bowl games since 2020 have been donated to Maskat Shrine.
Though the football version has been called off this year, the 2026 version of the Oil Bowl will feature a boys basketball all-star game, a girls basketball all-star game and two high school volleyball all-star games this weekend in Wichita Falls.
In total, 41 of the area’s most talented and decorated high school seniors have been chosen to represent their schools and towns in the boys and girls basketball versions of the 2026 Oil Bowl.
The girls basketball edition of the 2026 Oil Bowl is set to tip off at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at Legacy High School in Wichita Falls.
The boys basketball version of the 2026 Oil Bowl will tip off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Wichita Falls Legacy.
