Welcome to the 2026 Providence Journal All-States show. This year's event will recognize more than 300 Providence Journal first-team All-State athletes and award Player of the Year honors to more than 30 high school athletes. In each of the three high school sports seasons, The Providence Journal names All-State teams to recognize the top student-athletes in each sport.
"No one covers high school sports in Rhode Island better than The Providence Journal, and our sports staff has been honoring All-State athletes for more than 80 years," said Journal sports editor Bill Corey. "We are so very much looking forward to sharing the PPAC stage with Rhode Island's top high school athletes!"

The featured speaker at this year's event will be University of Rhode Island star wide receiver Marquis Buchanan, a former Classical High School All-Stater himself.

Buchanan is a Stats Perform First-Team All-American and FCS Football Central All-American after another standout season with the Rams in which he started all 14 games and compiled 1,337 receiving yards on 78 catches — the third most in a season in program history. Buchanan had touchdowns in seven games, including a two-touchdown performance at the University of California at Davis in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

This award honors greatness and strength that goes beyond the fields and courts. And the winner is:
BLACKSTONE VALLEY SCHOOLS HOCKEY AND COVENTRY/JOHNSTON
Two teams showed more courage than they should ever need to. Blackstone Valley Schools Hockey and Coventry/Johnston inspired us all in the aftermath of the shooting at Dennis M. Lynch Arena.

In the weeks after the shooting, the teams laced up their skates and met for a scrimmage at Levy Rink. That meeting meant hockey couldn’t be taken away from these two teams. It ended Coventry/Johnston’s season on a high note, and it sparked a title run for Blackstone Valley.
They are the definition of courage, and we are honored to recognize them.
Unified Athlete of the Year: Jamie Chattman, of the Woonsocket Unified basketball team
Jamie never missed a practice, game, event, or opportunity to support his Woonsocket teammates. A true competitor, he finished the past two seasons as the basketball team’s highest scorer and earned MVP honors through his outstanding play. But statistics only tell part of the story.
From the first practice to the final game, he showed an unmatched commitment to his team. His work ethic set the standard, and his enthusiasm was contagious.

Known for his huge personality, he brought energy, laughter, and spirit wherever he went. His impact extended beyond the court, earning him the prestigious Novan Spirit Award from Woonsocket High School — a testament to the character, heart, and joy he brings to others.
Jamie has grown into a remarkable leader, earning the role of co-captain and using his voice to lift up everyone around him. Whether celebrating a victory or overcoming a tough loss, he always found words of encouragement for his teammates. His positivity, sportsmanship, and belief in others helped strengthen the entire team. He has been the face of Woonsocket’s unified sports program, an inspiration to strengthen inclusive practices in the high school.
Jamie has also been an important member of the unified volleyball team. He has been supported every step of the way by proud and caring parents, and he has represented unified sports with excellence, dedication, and class.
Girls Coach of the Year
Steve Lenze of the Barrington Girls Basketball Team
Steve Lenze had the Eagles on the cusp of greatness for years, winning Division I titles but falling short of state championships. That changed this winter, as he got undersized Barrington to believe it could be a champion. The Eagles pulled off a tough win over Moses Brown in the quarterfinals, had a dramatic comeback over Ponaganset in the semifinals, then pulled off a better one in the championship game win over Westerly. Lenz gave credit to his players, but now it’s his turn to receive some.

Boys Coach of the Year
Blackstone Valley Schools hockey coach Chris Librizzi
There isn’t anything Blackstone Valley Schools hockey coach Chris Librizzi wouldn’t do for his team.
His honor as Coach of the Year extends far beyond Blackstone Valley’s championship victory. He took it upon himself to guide Blackstone Valley after the shooting and continues in that role. He was always there for anyone and everyone that needed him. We are all better because of coaches like Chris.

Girls Athlete of the Year - Presented by Paul Masse
Lauren Bousquet, Moses Brown
Bousquet transformed from a talented freshman to one of the most dominant girls basketball players Rhode Island has ever seen. Her talent, work ethic, compete level and countless awards are easy to see, but it’s the things that don’t show up in a stat sheet that made Bousquet stand out even more.

She was a relentless competitor who did everything possible to lift her teammates up and played every game with the utmost respect for opponents. Lauren Bousquet was more than a basketball player — she was an ambassador for the sport, and her legacy won’t be forgotten as she heads to the next level to play at Marist.
Boys Athlete of the Year - Presented by Paul Masse
Jalen Moseley, La Salle
Moseley’s potential has been obvious from the start, but the Rams’ junior is starting to realize it and has developed into one of Rhode Island’s truly generational athletes. His size and speed stood out on the football field, but his attention to detail helped him earn second-team All-State honors and a nod as one of Rhode Island’s best prospects.

On the track, Moseley isn’t just Rhode Island good. He’s one of the best long jumpers in the country and showed off his athleticism, winning multiple gold medals during the indoor and outdoor seasons while helping La Salle win team titles.
What’s next for Moseley, who recently committed to UConn for track and football? That’ll be fun to find out.
Team of the Year
Blackstone Valley schools boys hockey team
Blackstone Valley schools' hockey returned to the ice for its first game 18 days after the shooting. And a road playoff game awaited the team. Blackstone trailed early before tying the game in the second period and then Declan St. Vincent found the winning goal in the closing minutes.
That type of playoff win only finds the closest of teams. Blackstone Valley never doubted that it would win and that first victory sealed that belief. The boys then scored six goals in game 2 of that quarterfinal series to book a spot at Schneider Arena.

Colin Dorgan played hero in the semifinals with his winning goal in double overtime against Portsmouth. And then the championship was a script that even the best writers couldn’t produce.
Dorgan scored again to tie the championship with 30 seconds left in regulation as Blackstone Valley rallied from down 2-0 in the third period. A four-overtime finish only added to the celebration that’ll be remembered forever. Jaxon Boyes scored to lift Blackstone Valley and finish the storybook.
There is only one choice for the team of the year.
