One of the most notable ways to build a successful NFL team has been to start in the trenches and work outward. The theory, in practice, does tend to work in many cases, as a positive offensive line can help both the run and pass game, and a great defensive line can help the secondary with time to throw, while also blocking out the run. While success is more of a broad topic than just selecting players on the lines, it certainly helps in many cases.

A team looking to build in that manner is the New Orleans Saints, having selected offensive tackle in the first round of the last two NFL Drafts, and often selecting defensive or offensive line for many years now. Even down the board, they love getting depth at many line positions, and 2026 may be no different. Recent reports indicate that the Saints met with Georgia interior defensive lineman Christen Miller, a standout stopgap for one of the nation's most productive defenses.

Miller has a good mix of pass-rush pressure and stopgap run defense, which makes him a very promising prospect for NFL teams. At 6-foot-4, 321 pounds, with a 33-inch arm length, he has immense size, which makes him great over the interior gaps, but his athleticism and mobility are also outstanding for his position.

In 2025, Miller put up 23 total tackles (13 assisted, 10 solo), 4 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 19 pressures, 15 defensive stops, and only two penalties in that span. In 437 defensive snaps, 113 came in the A-Gap, 298 in the B-Gap, 23 over the tackles, and two on the outside of the tackles. It is clear that he schemes best as a nose tackle or defensive tackle at the next level, and could be someone New Orleans adds to the mix alongside Davon Godchaux, potentially as a long-term replacement.
