The 2026 NBA Finals are set, with the San Antonio Spurs set to take on the New York Knicks for the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. The Spurs punched their ticket to the finals with an epic Game 7 win over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
New York, meanwhile, punched its ticket to the finals for the first time since 1999 with a sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Interestingly enough, 27 years ago when the Knicks made a finals appearance, it was also against the Spurs.

That year, the Knicks’ championship dreams were dashed by Tim Duncan and company.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Jalen Brunson can complete the Knicks’ resurgance with New York’s first title in 53 years, or whether Victor Wembanyama will add an early championship run to his promising career.
