So that's a fair amount of money. Who is getting tendered by tiers

Who is a lock:

Moreno 2.4 million and desperately needs to be extended. This is the #1 off season priority

Ryne Nelson 3.3 million and desperately needs to be extended

Ildemaro Vargas 1.4 million. (0.2 WAR) Switch hitter utility guy. Good price.

John Curtiss 1.2 million (0.4) WAR. Cheap and solid.

I was wrong here. He was released. One of the only decent relievers we had last year. 0.92 WHIP

Reverse righty who allowed a crazy .490 OPS against lefties.

This is a really crazy move.

Free agent starting pitcher Zac Gallen declined the Arizona Diamondbacks’ qualifying offer on Tuesday, which was the deadline for certain players to decide whether to return to their clubs on a one-year deal or test free agency, MLB insider Jon Heyman first reported on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks extended the one-year, $22.05 million deal to Gallen at the start of the offseason, ensuring the club would receive draft capital if Gallen turned it down and signed elsewhere. Meanwhile, any other team that signs Gallen would forfeit a pick.

Gallen declining the Qualifying Offer vs Imanaga taking it is interesting. Imanaga is a much better pitcher

I know he was not available at the beginning of the season, but had we had him instead of Herrera the Dbacks probably make the playoffs

I can't believe they tendered everyone of these guys but Nelson, who was the cheapest

Who is likely gone

Jake McCarthy (-0.6 WAR) he turns 29 next year. Any other team he would be a lock to be gone but with Lourdes out there is a small chance he hangs on.

Kyle Nelson. 1 million (-0.1 WAR). Nearly 4.75 career ERA. It's time

Kevin Ginkel 3 million (-0.8 WAR) too much stink and not enough gink. He's a Torey favorite though so does that keep him on the roster?

Definitely gone

AJ Puk - TJ out for at least half the year.

Ginkel, Puk, and McCarthy will make about 9 million combined. That's halfway to a top closer.

Yeah, I don’t understand why they didn’t tender Henry

J-Mart and Puk are really 2027 stories now... There is a chance they both could see action very late in the season, however, my expectations are that they'll be factors once again in 2027.

This is very exciting… We might not see these guys until later in ‘26 or even ‘27, however, they are great illustrations of Hazen’s tremendous deal-making ability!

“The quartet of Drake, Eagen, Hagaman, and Izzi will be the first wave of pitchers coming up the system. How those four pitchers fare in Arizona could determine how quickly their next window of contention opens up.”
