Well it is January 10th and the Dbacks currently need and what the situation looks like based on OPS.
1B Pavin Smith (.542/.817) / Tyler Locklear (.540/.523) platoon
3B Blaze Alexander (.780/.672)
LF Tim Tawa (.626/.617)
CF Alek Thomas (.599/.672)
DH Adrian Del Castillo (.111/.719)
Closer Ginkel ???
On the bench for hitting: McCann, Lawlar, Barrossa, Vargas. That is hilariously it. There is no room for injuries right now. Barrossa has no business being on the 40 man roster with an under .600 OPS to either side
There is not a lot of money left so let's see what is possible.
The new platoon: Lawlar plays 2b against lefties and Marte DH's. I don't see where Lawlar gets ABs now outside of that.
1B remaining (must be right handed/switch and able to hit lefties)
Rhys Hoskins
Luis Arraez
Paul Goldschmidt
Carlos Santana
Justin Turner
Wilmer Flores
Hoskins and Arraez are legit full time starters. Hoskins you try to get on a one year prove it deal. Either of those two guys lets you move Pavin to LF until Lourdes is back,
3B
Eugenio Suarez
Yoan Moncanda
Everyone else is a bench level guy. Without Geno back, it's Blaze's job and you pray he doesn't get hurt
Miguel Andujar
Austin Hays
Harrison Bader
Mike Tauchman
Randall Grichuk
Slim pickings left here as well. I am not bothering listing Tucker or Bellinger. No way we could afford either one. Any of these guys free up Tawa to platoon / be the bench guy
DH
Marcell Ozuna
Andrew McCutchen
RPs/Closers - Lots of guys here. These are my favorites
David Robertson
Jakob Junis
Danny Coulumbe
Michael Kopech
Ryan Pressly
Shelby Miller
SerAnthony Dominguez
Ryan Brasier
Evan Phillips
Phillips is out for half the year but he supposedly wants a 1 year prove it deal when he comes back. I am honestly shocked the Dodgers didn't tender him since he was so good for them. I am guessing Miller coming back here is a lock. You should get two of these guys if possible.
I am guessing they only have 25 million left to spend. Is Geno and a good reliever enough? You just got to hold it down until Lourdes is back
What seems realistic to me is just to plug the holes against lefties.
So let's say Goldschmidt, Grichuk, Miller, Kopech.
Either way, you pray either Waldschmidt, Caldwell, or Druw Jones can win the LF spot in the spring.
