Uuuugh. I wanted Hecht here as backup/replacement for center. And then jags pick him with the very next pick. Hecht fits MLFs system. I think this is the first big whiff of the draft and I don't like Beck but I at least understand it.
Way better way to go than adding another WR who is redundant IMO

Sam Hecht

Pre-Draft Analysis

Hecht plays light on his feet and displays good foot quickness on film. He also plays with good balance and core strength. Hecht has average moving power but can anchor, mirror and hold his weight sustaining his blocks well. He is skilled enough to pull and get out on the edge. Hecht does a good job of climbing to the second level and latching on to defenders. Overall, he is a solid player who gets the job done. -- Scouts Inc.

He seems pretty redundant on this roster. I would much rather get someone with more speed to diversify. Or a developmental Olineman. It's a fifth rounder, so I'm not too bummed, but this seems like an unnecessary reach at an unneeded position.
LOL there are no reaches in the fifth round.

The last two picks were guys who flashed at the Senior Bowl. Probably should pay more attention to that next year

I know nothing about this kid although I watched Tech several times last year. I mean he can be considered Dortch's replacement which isn't a huge hill to climb.

I like this guy.
Was disappointed when I saw his 4.5....obviously ain't the burner we wanted.
Virgil is a possession reciever
What he is, is everything Marv is not.
They are similar players. But Virgil is a hands catcher..he comes back to his QB, he attacks the ball...he tracks the deep ball well and high points.
Dude is rarely wide open..he ain't fast enough to blow past guys and get open. But the guy in his pocket rarely brings him down.. he is surprisingly strong for such a little guy. Built more like a corner at 6'3...190..
I would expect him to put on 20 pounds over the next 18 months.

I think he is an insurance policy..he fits the lengthy WR mould ...that we are suddenly stacked with...but he is a guy coaches can glance at when Marv is trying to explain why he body catches...and he is there if MikeWilly wants too much money.

Good pick. The kid is a baller.

Takeaways from speaking with #AZCardinals fifth round pick WR Reggie Virgil:
- AZ was his first 30 visit and clicked “instantly” with Monti Ossenfort, who told him “I’m glad you ran that slow 40!”
- Talked about helping team any kind of way but is excited to take his game to the next level with elite weapons here already
- First couple of yours were rough but “God is Good”
- “I’m a dawg. I played special teams more than I played receiver.”
- Thinks transfer to Texas Tech can help him transition to NFL
- Highlighted speed and underrated route tree as best aspects of his game

Wish ESPN would respect the players as they come off the board and get selected to an NFL team. As the Cards selected Virgil, the ESPN talking heads were yucking it up with Rams HC McVay about the selection of QB Simpson.

Virgil didn't get his 5 minutes of fame or the highlight clip. He was barely mentioned later after McVay was finished mugging for the camera.

I will make my disappointment known to ESPN. Welcome to AZ Mr. Virgil. Make those tools know who you are during the regular season.
