NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on a pre-draft interview with ESPN that the Mike Vrabel situation did not fall under the league’s personal conduct policy, and that it was a team matter.
There were rumors of him actually stepping down

Glad it didn't happen

Get some counseling and move on

With talks about the NFL expanding to a 18-game regular season growing, "NFL RedZone" host Scott Hanson said he heard an interesting concept about bye weeks.

Hanson, 54, said he heard a concept about a potential league-wide bye week if the NFL were to expand to 18 games.

"If you had an 18th game, do you add a second bye week? I've even heard a concept where maybe they add an extra game but add an extra bye week that is a complete league-wide bye week," Hanson told Fox News Digital in a recent interview as he's partnered with Lowe’s.

"Maybe there is an NFL weekend in the middle of October, early November, somewhere in the middle of the season, where nobody plays a game, let the players recoup, get their bodies right, everyone can get away from football, just a little bit, and then come and play the back half of the season."

Hanson also noted how much later the Super Bowl would take place if the NFL implemented an 18-game regular season.

"But if you add that game, you extend the season, maybe by two weeks, if there's the extra bye, meaning the Super Bowl is pushed back to maybe even beyond Valentine's Day, a lot of moving parts there," Hanson said.

That will never happen.
Maybe one conference off one week and the other the following week.
You gotta be kidding if you think the nfl is REALLY concerned about players recouping.

they wont do it. But that league wide BYE would be great right at Thanksgiving...everyone already breaks down the season as "December games" being more relevant to the playoffs,..and being meaningful...so give the guys Thanksgiving week off...
of course the traditional Thanksgiving games with detroit,..and dallas,..would be over... but it fits as the right week to be "Halftime" for the season.

and they should also consider starting the season earlier rather than just extending into February.

: Matthew Stafford and the Rams are in deep discussions on a contract extension that would extend him for next season and "beyond" for the future, per
@RapSheet
The Ty Simpson pick is making less and less sense...
the simpson pick makes perfect sense... he provides leverage in case Stafford wants $60mil a year or something else rediculous...and he has time to develop when Stafford accepts a reasonable contract to remain the starter.

Cowboys star WR George Pickens, who did not report for the start of voluntary OTAs and has yet to sign his $27.3M franchise tender, either wants a long-term extension or a trade out of Dallas, per Adam Schefter. “Look, he wants a long term contract or he would like a trade.

I thought I read during the draft that he had signed the tender.

Adam Schefter says the 49ers and other teams are having a hard time getting a hold of Brandon Aiyuk as the team attempts to trade him:“I think the reason a team is not trading for him right now is they don’t want to assume the current contract that he has. It’s a situation where he hasn’t been in clear and constant communication with the Niners and they have had a hard time getting a hold of him. Other teams have attempted to reach out and they have had a hard time getting a hold of him.”h/t:

TJ Houshmandzadeh on the Brandon Aiyuk situation:“If you’re the Niners, the way BA just acted this past season with ghosting himself, I would release his ass the day before the start of the regular season. Why would I do you a favor? Whenever the first game is, they’re gonna release him that Tuesday. Because if you do it the day before the season starts, you gotta pay him. If you’re on the roster that Wednesday for that first practice, you get your money. He’s going to get released that Tuesday or somebody is going to trade for him. I am not doing him any favors if I’m the 49ers. You brought this on yourself. If you F me, I’m gonna F you harder.”

Why would anyone trade for Aiyuk? Just wait for the Niners to cut him and then sign him for a fraction of the price.

I thought so too, but apparently Schefter reported that Pickens would sign his tender; and as of today, he has not in fact signed it.

ESPN is finalizing a deal to retain longtime NFL insider Ian Rapoport, per Front Office Sports. After ESPN completed its acquisition of NFL Network in an equity deal earlier this year, the network absorbed all of NFL Network’s contracted talent. Didn't the Browns draft another QB this year? I guess they are taking a shotgun approach to finding a QB.
