It seems like every year a player loses time due to a non-contact injury in training camp. Guess we should get rid of practices, too.

possibly damned if you do - likely unprepared if you don't - preseason is filled with guys with very little chance of seeing real nfl playing time - desperate people do desperate things

the philosophies surrounding preseason games are vast - you are both building confidence through reps and endangering your most important investments

i don't know if there's a right answer - logic says be most cautious with the most valuable but benjamin franklin said by failing to prepare you are preparing to fail

bisontis' knee got fell on while he was engaged in a block - luck is a four letter word that rhymes with ****

love was a different story imo - he is rb #1 - and we should have learned from last year how important rb #1 is - he should have came out with the starters

he should have only been playing against other starters - who all have something to lose - who are also out there TRYING NOT TO GET INJURED BUT NO

like i said i'm thankful it's just an ankle - but he never should have been tackled by someone still auditioning to make an nfl roster because they're going full freakin speed and giving 110%

someone shoulda told lafleur to yank the rookie

"The Cardinals are hopeful that Jeremiyah Love is gonna be back for week one against the Chargers..

He really wanted to go out there and show what he could against the Raiders..

Obviously he went a little too hard and hurt that ankle" ~

This is an unserious post. What is this supposed to accomplish?
Oh, did I forget a sarcasm emoji. I know some around here are not fluent. Guys get hurt in practice, guys get hurt in preseason games, and guys get hurt in regular season games. It's laughable to think we can wrap these players in bubble wrap until the season starts and everything will be fine and dandy. First play on the field could end their season or even their career, but hey - at least they can say they got hurt when it mattered, right?

My guess is every coach, anonymously, want their guys to play. They have just come to accept this not playing them as the new way of this world.
Who do you think is holding back these coaches from playing their guys? The GM? The players themselves?

These guys are all professionals and extremely aware of how short their careers are. I’m sure few of the guys who are established NFL players want to be out there.

The Shanahan guys were innovators in the not playing anyone space.

That is a strong basic philosophy. Basic.
But it overlooks the simple fact that late in pre season games the guys in there are bubble players..dudes looking to make an impact, get noticed, hopefully stick on a roster. These guys play more fast and loose..letting bodies fly more haphazardly than settled NFL players.
I dont have any "stats" to back it up... but I would bet money more guys get hurt later in pre season games than earlier... its not good to have established players on the field with dudes trying to make a name for themselves.

Play in preseason, get injured… why was he playing?

Don’t play preseason, get injured in regular season.. he needed to play in preseason!

100% injury rate in NFL.. just a matter of when and how severe

I'm chalking this injury up to rookie HC mistake. Unfortunately, I would have liked to see him learn that lesson a week earlier when he played Bisconti too long as well and lost him for the season. But it is what it is... a bummer because we instantly become less watchable if he's not ready to start the season... but it's a lost season anyway so best to be as conservative now with him as possible... I guess.

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard someone say this about an injured player. This seems like the ultimate straw man.

Guys not playing well/dumb penalties? Yes you hear they should’ve played in the preseason. But not injuries.

Which is kinda crazy because he was on the Jets staff when Breece Hall was injured after seven games and two starts.

Weren't these both in the Raiders game? And CB was actually actually second half after Love was out. Not arguing that it may have still been a mistake, just not one he could have learned from the other incident.

Bisonti was during the second half of the HOF game, a week earlier.

The NFL wants 18 games. Go to 18 with two byes weeks and then just 2 PS games can that can be for roster sports 41-90 to battle it out for the last handful of spot!

I am assuming Bisonti is a typo. Chase Bisontis was hurt in the Raiders game and placed on IR Saturday. Would probably have been on IR much sooner if it happened against Carolina.

Not trying to be a jerk. Just saying it can't be Coach MLF not learning the lesson with Love when that injury happened first.
