His workload in that game was not high, I get people disagree with Love playing in the game, but that is a difference in philosophy more than anything. Plenty of teams play fringe starters and younger players in these games so it isn't like MLF is on an island here.

14 touches in the first half wasn’t high? Sorry… this is just your pathological inability to ever admit you’re wrong again, much like you STILL equivocating about Robinson even though he is complete dogsnot and a net negative on the field because you staked a really stupid opinion about him.

Playing guys limited snaps in a preseason game is fine. 14 touches in one half of any preseason game is stupid. It’s okay to just admit you were wrong about keeping him in the game when it was clear that he’d already flashed enough and was getting too much run for a completely meaningless game.
Especially when there are guys on the other team who may not ever play an actual down of real NFL football trying to make a name for themselves by taking down your future star running back however they can. That's a recipe for disaster - or injury, at least.

Andy Reed, who many on this board consider to be if not the best one of the best coaches in the NFL. Clearly has a philosophy of playing starters in the preseason, including Patrick Mahomes and other stars…. I don’t think anybody would be bitching if he was the coach. It’s hard to argue with his results.

Cards fans with KK and Gannon: Why aren't they playing starters in Preseason? Even KC plays starters in Preseason. This is why the team looks so unprepared the first few games.

Cards fans with LaFleur: This is why you don't play starters in Preseason. They get injured and now we can't have nice things.

There really isn't much of any middle ground.

And Sean McVay, who most believe is a better HC than Andy Reid nowadays, does not play his starters. The Rams are massive SB favorite btw.

The best ground is to not play the starters.

I don't see the difference between 14 touches in a half and 14 touches in a game. It is still 14 touches.

What's to say they don't go into game one of the real season and come out with the same injury? I guess then it is okay because they got hurt in a game that counted? If you can't play a series or two of contact football without getting injured...maybe you're just injury prone...

I’m not sure why risk management should be a challenging concept. There’s little to no upside in playing a critical RB in the preseason compared to the potential risk of a high ankle sprain derailing the season.

If you think there’s comparable upside, please explain.

Love me some nonsensical hypotheticals. Just stick to entertaining 602 & yourself about Kyler & the Minnesota Vikings.

On the morning show they alluded to Mike LaFleur having said something about running backs and how you couldn't evaluate them based on training camp because they don't take any hits. So, it sounds like he wanted to see how his running backs played in a game setting rather than in a touch football setting. I can understand that, but still think he played Love too much.

I feel like we will disagree here, but does it matter? 14 touches is 14 touches.
Yes, it matters. Wear & Tear is not a real thing to you? If I have very capable backup RB, why would I force-feed my starting RB 14 times in one half & instead balancing it out a little bit more so my starting RB can come back in the 2nd half with less pain & read on them?

Why does everyone keep saying Connor wasn't activated? He was never placed on PUP,

While the veteran avoided the physically unable to perform list and was a training camp participant throughout, Conner has yet to see any team activities like 11-on-11 work.

At a position that has to be able to endure wear and tear, it doesn't really matter as much to me. I would rather him get 14 touches in less snaps than playing more snaps to get those touches. To me, that is risk management. I don't think 14 touches was the reason he got hurt. I think getting rookies looks in the preseason is helpful. If this was year 2, I would have preferred he didn't play at all, but that is a coachnig philosophy disagreement.
