Welcome to this edition of THN's 2025 WHL Playoffs Daily Recap. This recurring article will provide summaries of action from the WHL post-season throughout the playoffs. Here is a look at the lone game from April 17.

Calgary Hitmen 6, Lethbridge Hurricanes 5 (OT)
Calgary Leads Series 3-2

The Hitmen had the chance to play spoiler once again, this time at home, and they did just that. Down 5-2 at one point, and tallying one right before the second intermission buzzer, Calgary put together a solid run and was able to tie the game courtesy of Oliver Tulk. Just six minutes into overtime, Ben Kindel did what he does best and let a shot go from the right circle and beat Jackson Unger to steal game five and Calgary now has an opportunity to meet the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Eastern conference final.

3 Stars:
Calgary: Ben Kindel- 1 Goal (GWG), 2 Assists
Calgary: Brandon Gorzynski- 1 Goal, 2 Assists
Calgary: Oliver Tulk- 2 Goals, 1 Assist

Spokane Chiefs 9, Victoria Royals 6
Series Tied 2-2

This one had goals a plenty. Spokane led 5-0 after one period, outshooting the Royals 20-4. While Victoria put forth a valiant effort, getting a goal late in the second and early in the third, but the Chiefs had an answer every step of the way. The Royals were able to score three of the game's final four goals, though it was too little too late as Spokane ties the series heading back to Washington State.

3 Stars:
Spokane: Rasmus Ekstrom- 3 Goals, 1 Assist
Victoria: Cole Reschny- 1 Goal, 3 Assists
Spokane: Mathis Preston- 2 Goals, 7 Shots

Portland Winterhawks 4, Everett Silvertips 3
Portland Leads Series 3-2

The Winterhawks continue to do the improbable. After dropping the first two games of the series, both in overtime, Portland has rattled off three wins in a row. In a game where no team scored multiple goals unanswered, the WInterhawks got the last laugh as Hudson Darby potted one with 60 seconds left in the final frame. Goaltender Ondrej Stebetak would then hold on for the victory, and now a chance to knock off the Western Hockey League's best.

3 Stars:
Portland: Kyle Chyzowski- 2 Goals
Portland: Josh Zakreski- 1 Goal, 1 Assist
Everett- Landon DuPont- 1 Goal, 1 Assist

Saturday, April 19 Games:
Lethbridge @ Calgary- 7:00 pm MT
Portland @ Everett- 6:05 pm PT
