The Los Angeles Rams spent their No. 46 pick on an offensive playmaker with the selection of Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. The addition brings another pass-catcher for Matthew Stafford, but one who likely won't start immediately for L.A.

With his massive 6-foot-6, 230-pound frame, Ferguson should be a great big-bodied target in the red zone and matchup nightmare for defensive backs and linebackers alike. He also relatively productive and college — something the Rams will come to expect at some point soon in his career.

Ferguson joins a crowded tight end room to start off, though he should begin near the top of the depth chart. Here's how the Rams' tight end depth should look now after the Ferguson pick:

1. Tyler Higbee

Higbee is the Rams' starting tight end until further notice. He's fully immersed in the offense and is a productive veteran player. He's older now, though, and is coming off a major injury that forced him to miss all but three regular season games. Higbee is also in the final year of his contract, so he might not be the starter for long.

2. Terrance Ferguson

Teams don't spent a top-50 pick on a player and not move up him the depth chart. Ferguson won't and shouldn't start immediately, but the Rams would be wise to get him involved early to eventually take over for Higbee. He is a good blocker and pass-catcher that should pick up the Sean McVay offense quickly.

3. Colby Parkinson

The Rams added Parkinson in 2024 to take on the starting tight end role while Higbee recovered from his injury. However, Parkinson wasn't very productive and only finished with 30 receptions for 294 yards and one score despite starting nine games.

4. Davis Allen

Allen took over as the Rams' starter midway through the season as Parkinson struggled, but he didn't do any better. Allen caught six receptions for 39 yards and mostly played the role of blocker in the Rams' offense.
