Didn’t Mark Williams flunk his physical when he got traded to the Lakers
Yeah. I don't know what they are thinking here. One good move, and follow that up with head scratcher.

In February 2025, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade for Mark Williams, a center for the Charlotte Hornets, in exchange for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2031 first-round pick, and a 2030 pick swap. The trade was intended to help the Lakers address their big man issues and add size to their frontcourt. The Lakers believed Williams would be a good fit for their team because he's a young, athletic center who's a lob threat and a strong finisher at the rim. They also thought he'd be a good fit with Luka Dončić, who has played well with big men who can lob the ball. However, the Lakers rescinded the trade two days later after Williams failed his physical and the Hornets didn't meet another condition of the deal. The Lakers were concerned about Williams's health and maturity level, and some say they overpaid for him. The Hornets were unhappy about the decision and said they respected Williams's talent and work ethic.

For the record, even with the flunked physical, he continued playing before and after the supposed trade.

The Hornets will receive a 2029 first rounder that is the least favorable of Cleveland, Utah, and Minnesota (1-5 protected).

What are the odds that all 3 will have lottery picks. That will be Anthony Edwards' prime for sure.

I was scared to watch live or follow here but am overjoyed with Maluach. Feel free to blame me if he's a bust but this is like Christmas in June.

It's a smart move, IMO. Williams is who we want Maluach to be at the worst so he's a good mentor for him. Gives us a consistent C to keep on the floor at all times. As Maluach earns more minutes and develops his jumper and confidence he can take minutes from Williams.
