Guess Suarez won't be going to the Yankees. They just picked up Ryan McMahon from the Rockies. Unless they slot Suarez into a different position.

Like Jon and Chris said, we need them. Our pitching is in the toilet. One of the guys is supposed to be up right away and the other looks solid. Pitching is going to be the main thing we look to get back in all of the trades. That and a future first baseman.

Hazen must be asking too much for Suarez. Both Yankees and Mariners balked at the price tag.

Maybe Hazen should swing a straight up trade with the A's...Suarez for Nick Kurtz. We need a 1B now that Naylor is gone. Wouldn't that be hilarious - but I don't think the A's would go for that in a million years. Kurtz just went 6-6 with 4 HRs and 8 RBIs in his last game. A rookie rising star on a bad team.

Maybe he's content keeping and signing him to a 3 year extension, if the trade demands aren't met. IMO, you can't trade everyone and expect to compete at all in 2026 or even 2027. You would need to be strategic with a retool/reload, not a rebuild.

You may be right. The prices for that extension will be high, especially for an aging 34 year old hitter. Suarez is the best chip we have on the trade table right now, with Kelly a close second. Gallen is also in the top 3, but his performance this year may not lead to the high price tag that Hazen wants someone to pay.
