That's fine for other spots in the game. Well, not fine. Bend but not break is a gross defense and I hate it. That is not what we are discussing. On the last drive, when you need the stop, especially when a FG loses the game, die slowly is suuuuch a losing strategy. Prevent defenses prevent winning. Week after week after week we've had bland, vanilla 4-man rushes that don't work over and over again. A child can watch and see it isn't working. IDGAFF about injuries or personnel. The situation has called, repeatedly and loudly, for aggression. He keeps puckering, and we keep losing. Pretty straightforward on my end. I mean, it's getting laughably dumb over on Hardy Drive.
I feel like I saw Rallis pressure vs Tennessee and KeiTrel Clark let Ridley catch a bomb over his head.

If I'm granting you this--and boy howdy I'm not, because if you think we pressured Cam Ward late in that game, you're blind--but that is only ONE of the games. How about the rest? You're trying to be cute on this topic and not be pinned down, which tells me you know Rallis needs to change but don't want to admit it.

Ward had a hand in his face from maybe Calais on that throw. It's pressure. Like I said, I would like to see Rallis be more aggressive on defense but I do think it matters who is playing CB.

The better expression is do you want to die quickly or die slowly? I agree I want to see Rallis be more aggressive but to ignore context like personnel, situation, and injuries is silly.
I don't see any of your factors impacting aggressiveness. In fact CB injuries would seem to encourage it.

You're still focusing on one play. That game wasn't about just one play. Once again, with emphasis:

WERE YOU HAPPY WITH THE 4TH QUARTER DEFENSIVE PASS RUSH PLAY AGAINST TENNESSEE?

The all caps seems dramatic. I have already said I would like to see more aggressive play calls from Rallis. That's in general, not just a 4th Q preference.

There are levels to pressure strategies. Do you want it to be consistent? A surprise? Situational? Are you trying to go against tendencies? One given is you will be putting your DBs on an island and when that occurs, there is the potential for a big play. Are you willing to risk the 25 yard pass play vs giving up the 8 yard play? Lots of different ways to call a 4 minute defense, and a defensive game in general. .

I prefer pressure. I prefer Bowles and Spags. But I also understand why some DCs don't prefer it. I do believe that situation and personnel matter. Putting Melton on an island to bring 5 is a different level of risk than putting Dezel Burke or K Clark.

Thank you. Now, as you have furthered the conversation, I will remark that you have been arguing against Rallis needing to be more aggressive in the 4th quarter. Quite strongly. Why?

If you give the QB too much time the CBs lose contact with receivers. Since Baker almost always ends up close to the line receivers are rarely doubled anyways. Someone’s always singled. So if the QB has time to find them the results the same.

Because I feel he needs to be more aggressive in general. In terms of the 4th Q, I don't feel like the Cardinals blitzing this year has resulted in a high rate of pressure.

Here are some stats I have found and you can do with them what you will.

The Cardinals are currently 23rd in blitz rate at 20.5% and 10th in points allowed. For context tho, the team with the biggest difference in blitz % while also having less points allowed is the Chiefs whi blitz at a rate of 29.5%. It's a 9% difference which isn't a lot. Cardinals are 10th in completion % allowed. 27th in pressure%

So, again, die quickly or die slowly. I am still trying to find somewhere that shows blitz success rate but if I were to just guess, I would guess the Cardinals are low.

I don't think it has either, because their 4th quarter blitz rate has got to be amongst the lowest in the league. If you don't even try, it surely won't succeed.
