The Los Angeles Lakers’ ownership has once again changed hands.
When the Buss family sold the Los Angeles Lakers’ majority share to Mark Walter in 2025, many expected the LA Dodgers owner to keep the franchise for years.
However, just a little over a year later, Walter has sold his majority share to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner for a $12.5 billion valuation. Once again, it’s another record-breaking NBA team sale, and the Lakers are at the center of it.

Kyle Kuzma questions Mark Walter’s intentions after selling the LA Lakers
The sale took the NBA community by surprise, including 2020 LA Lakers champion Kyle Kuzma. In fact, Kuz went as far as insinuating that Walter flipping the Lakers seems shady.
“Nobody flips a crown jewel in 14 months because it’s going well,” Kuzma wrote on X.
Indeed, the Lakers are the crown jewel of the NBA, and owning the franchise is a dream come true for any owner. Moreover, Walter seemed ready to make the team his own after making a lot of executive changes over the past year or so.
But the Dodgers owner is reportedly facing an active federal investigation involving loan fraud. Kuzma subtly tied the Lakers sale to the investigation.
Either way, the reality remains that the Lakers will have yet another new ownership group heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.
