The Pittsburgh Steelers signed two standouts from their 2023 NFL Draft class to huge extensions, but two more players are deserving of new contracts.
While the Steelers signed edge rusher Nick Herbig to a four-year, $100 million deal and tight end Darnell Washington to a four-year, $42 million extension, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and defensive lineman Keeanu Benton remain on their rookie deals — which are set to expire following the 2026 season.
Porter, who was selected by the Steelers with the 33rd overall pick in the second round, quickly emerged as a premier lockdown cornerback in the NFL, allowing just one touchdown since entering the league.
Benton, selected by the Steelers with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, put together a breakout season in 2025, recording 5.5 sacks, 51 combined tackles, one forced fumble, six tackles for loss, and 12 quarterback hits.
While Porter and Benton hopefully figure to be fixtures of Pittsburgh's defense for years to come, another player from the Steelers' 2023 draft class — first-round offensive tackle Broderick Jones — is dealing with a major injury and faces an uncertain future in the Steel City.
