One of the Pittsburgh Steelers' many players set to hit free agency in 2027 has broken his silence on potential contract negotiations this offseason.

When asked by reporter Alan Saunders if he was concerned about his rookie contract expiring in 2026, Steelers defensive lineman Keeanu Benton didn't mince words: he's only focused on the present.

"Not really," Benton said when asked if he was worried about an extension. "I'm just here trying to come out here, get ready, and learn that playbook."

#Steelers DT Keeanu Benton, who is entering the final season of his rookie contract, said he's "not really" worried about that right now.

Benton, selected by Pittsburgh with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, went on to have a breakout season in 2025, recording 51 combined tackles, 12 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks — all of which were career highs.

The Steelers have more contract extensions to worry about than just Benton, however, as edge rusher Nick Herbig and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. also have their rookie deals set to expire following the 2026 season.
