1 – Absolutely no reason to make that a close and stressful game. Horrible to let that happen.

2 – I fear that they will miss Klayton Adams a lot more than expected. Big step back from last season for the offensive line.

3 – Kyler Murray had diarrhea before the game. Just to give a little perspective.

4 – Baron Browning played well, but you sure would have wished to see more pass rush from the front line.

5 – On that major hit by Will Johnson, highly impressive to see him use textbook technique in that situation as a rookie.

6 – Murray completed 8 of 10 passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns against the blitz, which gives a passer rating of 135.8. Last season he finished the season with a passer rating of 79 on those types of plays.

7 – Isaiah Adams was a liability. Point blank.

8 – Very interesting that Benson was in on third downs instead of Demarcado. Petzing’s offense is all about deception and creating confusion for defenses by letting them guess blindly which type of play is coming. To do that you need multifaceted players, and that Petzing (and Gannon) trust Benson to both run, catch and pass protect makes him a great fit. Bodes well.

9 – Murray’s throw to Harrison in the first quarter went 54 yards in the air. All of last season, his longest completion was in the air for 45 yards.

10 – 1-0, baby. That’s it. 1-0.

Will Johnson will be getting more and more time. Easy to see players pop on the All 21. Even from the jump he looks more impactful than anything Melton or DRob has given us so far.

Great points all around my man.

Did Josh Sweat play?
Can’t remember hearing his name or him doing anything.

Overall, it was a good road win in week 1. No mattter how bad the opponent is week 1 games are very sloppy and unpredictable.

He did and no he didn't.

This line was supposed to put pressure on the QB without a blitz. Yesterday that never happened and made a average QB look good as usual.

#11 When old man Kamara ran in for 18 yard touchdown, I was like “the hits keep on coming.”

Sweat got his hand on SR a couple of times but the lack of an interior pass rush allowed Rattler to step up out of the pressure.

Also the Saints had Rattler getting the ball out of his hands quickly which negated the Cardinals rush most of the time.

PFF had Rattler with average time to throw of 2.38
Thanks for the info.

Looks like we can expect more of the same next week:

Much of the same on the way for the Arizona Cardinals’ pass rush in Week 2?

Bouncing back in the pass-rushing department seems doable against the Carolina Panthers next week.

That is, until seeing quarterback Bryce Young’s 4.4 yards per attempt on 18-of-35 passing. He took just one sack in a 26-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had 16 pressures (tied for sixth most) on the afternoon... Similar to what was on display against New Orleans, the Panthers settled for quick, underneath looks more times than not.

7- having watched the game I’m not sure how much or wasn’t on him, but what was up with Adam’s looking back before every snap? My neck was hurting just watching him- and that can’t be good for his passblock against a defender

Pretty sure that was him looking back for the signal from Kyler to tap the center to snap the ball due to crowd noise

He was getting some pressures. Sweat has been a 6-8 sack man his entire career. We paid him to provide a baseline level of competence that we previously did not have, but don't mistake him for a star.

If he was the type of player that gets his name called every game he would have cost $40+ million a year.

I expect the trenches to have a good week 2. Most of the saints OL were first rounders.
both the Saints trench units surprised me by how bad they made us look. I wasnt expecting that at all.
...I mean,...Cam Jordan?? Really??? Dude is almost as old as me... older than my sons anyway and most players retire about my oldest boys age. I knew Cam was the best guy in their front seven...and made the mistake of thinking that meant their unit was seriously sub par... but holy cow Cam is still balling at a high level

Another name I didn't hear was that of our Defensive Coordinator. I attributed it to the game being on CBS. They know less about Az than the Fox crews, who do (usually) more of our games.

I link to the CARDS local radio broadcast (Pasch/Shipley) quickly fuse the video/audio and voila, no national feed.

The video is ahead of the audio, so you pause the video on the snap and release when Dave calls the play.

QBs are going to have to throw it towards somebody. They’re not going to test Will & Garrett much.
Melton is interesting because he plays the most aggressive with his alignment of the 3 CBs. He seems to really like to get his hands on the WR. Both Johnson and Williams play a little further off.
