MARRERO, La. (WGNO) – Grambling head coach, Mickey Joseph, hosted one of his many football camps earlier this week.

Joseph, a Westbank native, admitted that recruiting this area is where he’s seen some of the best talent – and that’s expected of him to say.

Grambling boasts nearly 20 players from the New Orleans area on its roster and entering year three as head coach, Joseph and company look to build from last year’s 7-5 momentum.

A parallel to the success his of alma mater, Archbishop Shaw, Joseph says it’s the teaching of Eagles’ head coach, Hank Tierney, That he can lean on.

“He’s a proven winner. Everywhere he goes, he wins. He’s a great guy and he’s been a part of my life since I was 15 years old so he’s like a second father to us and our family – me, my brothers and my cousins. Hank is one of the coaches that would still yell at us”, Joseph jokingly says. “Without Shaw, there wouldn’t be any Joseph boys.”
