Chiefs Duo Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Clears Themselves From Lawsuit Against 1587 Prime

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are co-owners of popular Kansas City steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in partnership with the hospitality group Noble 33, founded by Mikey Tanha and Tosh Berman.

The steakhouse is facing a lawsuit from 1587 Sneakers over the “1587” branding. It was filed on February 17th in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, with Mahomes and Kelce named among the defendants. The sneaker company has been using the “1587” name since April 2023. Meanwhile, the Kansas City restaurant opened in September last year.

TMZ reported that the Chiefs duo have presented evidence showing they have no direct interest or controlling authorization over the steakhouse. Therefore, they have moved to dismiss the case in court.

Meanwhile, the sneaker company accuses both of them of trying to distance themselves as “mere promotional ‘pretty faces’ of the alleged infringing enterprise with no New York ties.”

The sneaker company has also commented on how the steakhouse arrived at its name by using Kelce’s (87) and Mahomes’ (15) Chiefs jersey numbers. They are trying to argue that this is evidence that the two are very much involved in the direction of the company.

The point of concern between both businesses is the overlap in merchandising carrying the same “1587” branding.
