“Should Be Fired” – Fans Lash Out After Little League Umpire Ejects Kentucky Coach After Strike Call

An ejection in the Kentucky vs. Ohio championship game of the Great Lakes Region Tournament on Wednesday caught fans’ attention on social media. After a strikeout call in the fourth inning, the home plate umpire ejected Kentucky’s assistant coach after he came out of his dugout.

Apparently displeased with the strike call, which many felt should have been a ball, Matthew Teague walked out. But before he could say a word, the home plate umpire stopped him in his tracks. When Teague began speaking to his batter, the umpire ejected him from the game.

Kentucky Little League Team Falls to Ohio in Great Lakes Region Championship​

Ohio had defeated Kentucky 11-4 in their previous meeting earlier this month, and followed it up with a dominant 6-0 win on Wednesday. Ohio scored six runs in the first inning and easily held on to that advantage.

Ohio’s representative, West Side Little League out of Hamilton, earned a spot in the 2026 Little League World Series, scheduled to be held in Williamsport, PA. The LLWS will begin on Wednesday.
